Baseball = Cash?
A Great way to earn extra Cash in the summer !
Here in Omaha NE, we are the center of the Baseball World for 10 days a year. Every year the Men’s NCAA Division 1 College World Series comes to Omaha and with it comes people from all over the world. Not only are they here to watch a few games, but many are here to play in the numerous youth tournaments held during the CWS.
Last year during that 10 day span there was over 500 games played all across town. Needless to say, there were not enough umpires to go around. So last year after countless phone calls from the umpire in chief I got my first taste of umpiring. Thrown into the heart of it, I had my ups and downs but came out of it a better umpire. During that 10 day span I umpired over 25 games at least one a day. On that first Saturday I umpired 6 games from sun up to sun down. Needless to say the next day I could only do 1 because my legs were exhausted! I guess the good comes with the bad though, but I would say this is the best part-time job I have ever had. The pay is outstanding $35.00 per game paid before every game.
The games last 2 hours at the most and if you get the younger kids they last less than 1 1/2 hours. The up front cost is a little expensive because you have to buy your equipment (umpire shirts, pants, leg guard, chest protector, facemask, and cap) but you are sure to make that up quickly after you do a few games. This year I plan on umpiring a lot more because I started to umpire high school spring baseball. I have been told that this year during the College World Series that I should expect up to 50 games if not more. So during that 10 day span I could earn up to $2,000.00 in cash. This is a great way for all of the people out there to earn extra cash.
